Q: What is REPs qualification?
REPs qualified trainer is one that adheres to Government guidelines as set out by the Register of Exercise Professionals – or REPs for short.
Q: Why REPs Qualification?
Membership of REPs can provide more than just a badge to enhance an instructor’s professional image. It differentiates a qualified and committed instructor from someone with little or no training. Being a member of REPs means that Fitness Professionals will hold recognized and approved qualifications and be committed to ongoing professional development.
Q: Who sets the standards?
The Standards were developed by REPs and checked with training providers and employers, the standards are based on the Global Standards for fitness produced by the International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals (ICREPs)
Q: What are levels of registration?
Level 2 – Gym Instructor, Group Fitness Instructor, Exercise to Music, Physical Activity for Children.
Level 3 – Personal Trainer
Q: Who approves the qualifications?
Courses to give entry to REPs are approved through internationally accepted accreditation systems, at present these include accreditation routes through the UK, Australia, South Africa and ICREPs.
Q: What is ICREPs?
ICREPs is the International Confederation for Registers of Exercise Professionals, it is the global body for REPs registers around the world. There is now a REPS register and member of ICREPs in UK, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, UAE, Ireland, Canada and United States.
Q: What is CPD?
It is important for exercise professionals to keep their skills and knowledge up to date. Continuous Professional Development – CPD – is about exercise professionals doing extra courses, attending workshops or conferences or taking part in other activities which increase their skills base.
Q: Who is Active IQ?
Active IQ is an awarding organization that is recognized and regulated by the following qualifications and examinations regulators: Ofqual (England) and Qualifications Wales. We develop and create qualifications (Syllabuses and assessments, plus accompanying supporting resources such as manuals & e-learning) Which carries REPs points. Active IQ is not a training provider (center) and it does not deliver training courses. Instead its qualifications are delivered by National & International network of approved training organizations, In India it is CareerSport Fitness Academy India.
Q: Are Active IQ qualifications internationally recognized?
Active IQ UK qualifications are well-regarded all over the world, and where there is a national register of exercise professionals with an agreement in place for mutual recognition. Active IQ certifications have REPs points and are accepted across the World.
Q: What is the validity of my Certification?
In India, Active IQ (REPs) certifications do not have an expiry date but however you are expected to do CPD (Continuous Professional Development) courses like CPR, Kettlebells etc., to keep your skills base active.
Q: I don’t have any formal qualifications, but I do know what I am doing – where do I fit in?
We recognize that the industry is presently made up of individuals with a mix of qualifications and hands on experience and skills learnt on the job. We have a registration pathway that allows for individuals with little or no qualifications to be assessed and confirmed as competent.
Q: Does CareerSport Fitness Academy India provide Placement assistance?
Yes we do, we have association with Fitness Partners in India, UAE, UK, Malaysia etc., and upon successful completion of certification we will provide all necessary assistance in relation to Placement.
Q: What is the duration of the course?
A level 2 course would take 2 to 3 months to complete, whereas a level 3 might take a bit longer as it entirely depends on the individual as to how soon they would like to complete it.
Q: Is this an online course?
Definitely not! Practicals, Theory & Assessment would be conducted by a Tutor from the UK. So, for every course that is conducted in India the Tutor would travel to India from the UK and deliver the classes and that is the very reason why this certification is most preferred by the Fitness Industry across the world.
Q: I have certifications from other bodies, can I do level 3 directly?
No, In order to become a REPs certified Instructor you will have start with a Level 2 or you can opt for a Diploma which is a combination of level 2 & 3.
